Where have all of the computer role-playing games gone? Computer role-playing games have been around since the "dawn" of computer gaming. In fact, during the 1980's, role-playing games were probably the industry's most dominant genre. Some of the best computer games ever produced are role-playing games that were released during the 1980's. It's easy to come up with a formidable list of great role-playing games from that decade: the Ultima games from Richard Garriott and Origin Systems, Inc.; Sir-Tech Software Inc.'s Wizardry games; the Might & Magic games from New World Computing; the "gold box" Advanced Dungeons & Dragons games (and their predecessors, Wizard's Crown and Eternal Dagger) from Strategic Simulations Inc.; Dungeon Master from Faster than Light games; the Bard's Tale games and Wasteland from Interplay Productions; and the Starflight games from Electronic Arts.
